Energy, Environment & Atmospheric Sciences Science & Technology in Cultural Heritage Computational Sciences

The full name of the final degree is Doctor of Philosophy in Energy, Environment and Atmospheric Sciences .

The goal of the program is to promote excellence and educate students in energy environmental and atmospheric sciences, sectors that are all of high priority for Cyprus and internationally.

The challenging curricula will include two mandatory courses aiming to establish a common basis among students from different disciplines, one (from a pool or three) mandatory track courses depending on the sector (energy, environment, or atmosphere) selected by each student, as well as a number of electives that provide insight into a variety of more specialized and important topics.

The program in Digital Cultural Heritage (DCH) lies at the cross-section of research in digital technologies and Information Society Technologies (IST) with the Humanities and the Social Sciences.

Advances in digital technology have offered significant opportunities to enhance the scope and depth of research in Cultural Heritage and Archaeology. Although this a long discussed subject of the past decade and more, only a few academy programmes (most concentrated in the Anglo-Saxon world, and the Northern American continent) are fully devoted to this topic. Moreover, as of today, there are no such programmes offered by any Cypriot academic institution. Responding to this gap and building upon its state-of-the-art research infrastructure, The Cyprus Institute’s program in Digital Cultural Heritage aspires at training young scholars in a truly interdisciplinary academic environment to properly prepare them for the research and educational challenges of the future.

The full name of the final degree is Doctor of Philosophy in Computational Sciences. The Computational Sciences program is offered by The Cyprus Institute’s Computational-based Science and Technology Research Center (CaSToRC).

The program will educate students and carry out significant research in Computational Science with specialization in important fields that require High Performance Computing such as climate modeling, high-energy and nuclear physics, materials science, computational chemistry, 3D visualization and computational biology.

More precisely, the program educates future researchers in mathematical modeling and computational methods and techniques needed to solve complex scientific and engineering problems, as well as in management and visualization of complex data sets.
