A new 3-year EU project that CyI is participating in and that started in May, plans to investigate, implement and validate energy neutral ‘Smart Urban Isles’ (SUI) in urban planning.
Based on a three-cornerstone procedure, the project aims at a whole new urban planning that allows cities to grow in a more sustainable way. An innovative concept for city planning will be investigated, where cities are arranged and grow encircling small integrated areas. The project will involve Municipalities such as SantaCruz de Tenerife, Amsterdam, Winterthur, Zurich, Limassol, Iasi, Granada, Güssing (through ecoEnergyLand).
The CyI research team is composed of Prof. N. Papanicolas as the Project Coordinator, Prof. Despina Serghides as the Project Leader, and Stella Dimitriou as an Assistant Researcher.
