CCST Fellowships

“World-class universities, while few in number, play a catalytic role in advancing human affairs and welfare, economic growth, scientific progress, and cultural achievement” says Prof. Costas Papanicolas, President of The Cyprus Institute. The Cyprus Institute is such an institution dedicated to the pursuit of excellence and will be addressing regional problems (for the Eastern Mediterranean) with global significance. As part of its educational mission it will be offering Fellowships to a limited number of young scientists aspiring to become future leaders in academia and research that is enabled by computational science and technology.

The Cyprus Institute has established a “Cyprus Computational Science and Technology (CCST) Program” at the University of Illinois (Illinois) under the auspices of its Institute for Advanced Computing Applications and Technologies (IACAT) and the National Center for Supercomputing Applications (NCSA).  CCST Postdoctoral Research Fellowships and CCST Graduate Fellowships at Illinois are available for collaborative projects between the CyI and Illinois in the following areas:

  • Climate Change Simulations
  • Digital Cultural Heritage
  • High Energy Physics/Lattice QCD
  • Solar Energy Concentration and Storage
  • Visualization

The joint projects between Illinois will provide collaborative research and educational opportunities for the Fellows while advancing the research objectives of The Cyprus Institute.  Fellows will have access to the NCSA/IACAT’s high end computing, data and visualization resources and infrastructure at Illinois in USA and the Computation-based Science and Technology Research Center (CaSToRC) of CyI in Cyprus.
