The 2nd Regional STACHEM Workshop on Infrastructures for Digitisation in Archaeology and Cultural Heritage is taking place in the framework of a STACHEM-ATHENA joint workshop at EVA 2010 Florence.

Workshop Organizers: The Italian Ministry for Cultural Heritage and Activities (MiBAC) and the Science and Technology in Archaeology Research Center (STARC) at the Cyprus Institute.

STACHEM (Science and Technology in Archaeology and Cultural Heritage in the Eastern Mediterranean) is an EU funded project, coordinated by the Cyprus Institute. The Italian Ministry for Cultural Heritage and Activities, with a wide experience in the field, is a partner of the STACHEM project and responsible for workspackage 4 of the project, digital heritage.

The second STACHEM Regional Workshop relating to digital heritage, which is organized on the occasion of EVA 2010 Florence, follows the first one held in Paestum in November 2009 during the XII Borsa Mediterranea del Toursimo Archeologico. The Florence edition focuses on selected initatives of Web GIS applications to archaeology.

The workshop, which is held as a joint event with the ATHENA project so as to promote networking and knowledge exchange not only between the participants of the workshop but also between the projects, aims at presenting state of the art in digital heritage and at introducing highlights of two European projects, STACHEM and ATHENA. Furthermore, the experience in Web GIS applications to archaeology, gained within another Eurpean project, 3DCOFORM, will also be introduced.
