The STACHEM International Conference was the concluding event of the STACHEM project. (STACHEM: Science and Technology for Archaeology and Cultural Heritage in the Eastern Mediterranean). Beyond presenting the project's results, the STACHEM International Conference has brought together decision and policy makers and leading experts in archaeological sciences, digital heritage and underwater archaeology for an enhanced networking between the existing infrastructures in the Eastern Mediterranean region and beyond, and towards the building of a community of users with joint trans-national activities.

In order to foster the exchange of ideas, interaction and co-ordination of plans among the conference participants and the STACHEM partners, presentations and a roundtable discussion have focused on existing infrastructures and practices: identifying capacities and needs, problems and perspective for the future development of archaeological research in the Eastern Mediterranean and future synergies.
