The Cyprus Institute participated in EuroPCom's Virtual Market Place 2020, the premier conference and networking event for professional communicators working in the public sector in Europe. This is the eleventh European Public Communication Conference, and CyI, via its Communications Office, had the opportunity to virtually engage with some of the 344 participants and 264 different organisations that attended.

Usually held as a physical event, this year's main EuroPCom – Time for Communica[c]tion event took place online on 7-8 of December 2020, due to the COVID-19 pandemic exceptional circumstances. The participants, who came from a wide range of European, national, regional and local public sectors and private and non-governmental organisations, had a specific interest in communicating with citizens at different levels, and took part in a packed programme of EuroPCom talks, workshops and Ideas Labs, with the aim of exchanging ideas on how to work more effectively.

These activities flowed from three key themes: Citizens, Green and Digital. The conference also focused on two new European initiatives that will have a major impact on citizen communication in the coming years, namely the Conference on the Future of Europe and the European Green Deal. In particular, the Communications Office had a virtual stall at the EuroPCom 2020 event in which The Cyprus Institute was promoted and its mission described.

The event was organised by the European Committee of the Regions in partnership with the Council of the European Union, the European Parliament, the European Commission and the European Economic and Social Committee, the European Investment Bank and the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development.
