“ERMIS-Floods” Project Kicks Off

ermisf interreg logoThe opening of the ERMIS-Floods project (Interreg V-A 2014-2020) will take place on January 10th at the Cyprus Institute. A new 30-month Interreg project, coordinated by CyI, is instigated in January 2018, aiming to develop an Environmental Risk Management and Information Service.

ERMIS-Floods will use digital geographic information, computational risk assessment models and (predictive) disaster forecasting.

ERMIS-Floods ambition is to function as a unique source of information on all kinds of natural hazards (starting with Floods) and help manage them through precaution or potential prediction. The ERMIS-Floods project intends to create a model of an Integrated Public Supported Service, a Digital System and an Online Information Platform regarding Flood Management and other Natural and Environmental Risks.

The project is being implemented by The Cyprus Institute, the University of the Aegean, the Technical University of Crete, Larnaca District Development Agency, Water Directorate of the North Aegean, and the Municipality of Chania.

The project is part of Interreg V-A Greece-Cyprus Cross-Border Cooperation Program 2014-2020 and is co-funded by the European Regional Development Fund and national funds from Greece and Cyprus.
