Visit to CyI by the Ambassador of Romania

On Friday, 25th of June 2021, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Romania to the Republic of Cyprus, H.E. Mr. Dan Mihalache, and the Consul General of Romania in Edinburgh, Mr. Anton Emmanuel Barbu, visited The Cyprus Institute’s premises to discuss the possibility of cooperation in areas with common interest.
 
Hosting the meeting was CyI’s President, Prof. George Christophides, in the presence of CyI's Vice President for Operations, Dr Michalis Yiangou, CyI’s Assistant Vice President for International Relations, Dr Nicolas Jarraud and STARC’s Associate Prof. Sorin Hermon. The delegation was given a short briefing on the Institute’s research and educational activities, as well as a short outdoor guided tour of CyI campus, including the APAC laboratory. The Ambassador also met with CARE-C Post-Doctoral Fellow, Florin Unga, a Romanian scientist at CyI, who focusses on the investigation of atmospheric aerosol mixing state effect on measured and retrieved optical characteristics.
 
Finally, the Ambassador expressed his thanks for the opportunity to visit, and congratulated the Administration and the Scientists of the Institute for the impressive facilities and their research achievements, and assured them that his support for The Cyprus Institute is strong and will only continue to grow.
