Important Integrated Projects Awarded to CyI Researchers in Latest RPF Evaluation Results

In its latest proposal evaluation results announced by the Research Promotion Foundation (RPF) on July 5th, researchers from The Cyprus Institute (CyI) secured funding for two major Integrated projects, in addition to a third project in the same category funded earlier this year.

More specifically, proposals for the RESTART 2016-2020 program submitted by CyI Assoc. Prof. Adriana Bruggeman and Professor Jean Sciare in the call “Integrated Projects”, within the 'Agriculture-Food' and 'Health' priority sectors respectively, were successfully funded following an independent evaluation process. Assoc. Prof. Adriana Bruggeman submitted the project “Proactive Producer and Processor Networks for Troodos Mountains Agriculture (3PRO)” with a total budget of €664k, and Professor Jean Sciare submitted the project “Air Quality Services for a cleaner air in Cyprus (AQ-SERVE)”, with a total budget of €1.12M.       

These successes come in addition to a third project submitted by Asst. Prof. Kirsi Lorentz that was funded in the same call within the priority sector “Tourism”, and announced earlier this year. That project, “Face to Face: Meet an Ancient Cypriot (FF:MAC)”, has a total budget of €1,18M.

All three projects received some of the highest marks in their evaluations, and were successful in an extremely competitive field. They represent important and prestigious integrated projects with budgets of the order of hundreds of thousands to one million euros each, so this is a tremendous success for the researchers and the Institute as a whole.

The Cyprus Institute is the principal coordinator for all three projects, and many companies, organizations and research institutions from Cyprus and abroad are also participating as partners.

This important achievement is the latest in a string of successful funding results for CyI in national and EU competitive calls, and is a direct outcome of CyI researchers’ dedication and hard work, bringing further distinction and recognition to CyI’s important role as a regional research Center of excellence.
