The Cyprus Institute has been created by the Cyprus Research and Educational Foundation (CREF) and is governed by its Board of Directors and its President. The Board of the Institute receives advice, on scientific matters, from the Scientific Advisory Council (SAC).

Each of the five Centres of the Institute have an appointed Scientific Expert Panel (SEP) which provide independent scientific advice to the President of the Institute on the scientific direction and mission of each Centre.

CREF has an internationally acclaimed Board of Trustees that is responsible for providing guidance and assessing the effective implementation of the Institute’s vision and mission. The Board is currently comprised of leading personalities of the international academic, political and business world.
