The Cyprus Institute (CyI) is proud to announce its active role in supporting the Water-Energy-Food Innovation Living Lab for Africa (WILL4AFRICA) as it becomes an Adherent Member of the European Network of Living Labs (ENoLL). The official approval took place during the ENoLL General Assembly on Monday, 15th December 2025, where WILL4AFRICA presented its successful candidature.

This milestone reflects the collaborative efforts of CyI researchers and partners from Strathmore University in Nairobi, Kenya, within the Horizon Europe project, ONEPlanET. Together, they designed and launched WILL4AFRICA to address critical challenges in the Water-Energy-Food (WEF) Nexus, aligning with rigorous European quality standards and ENoLL’s guidance.

WILL4AFRICA functions as an innovation ecosystem that fosters co-creation, testing, and scaling of locally grounded solutions. By engaging innovators, startups, and SMEs, the Living Lab aims to deliver tangible societal and environmental benefits, empower African communities, and enhance sustainable resource use across the WEF sectors.

CyI’s involvement has been central to WILL4AFRICA’s design, implementation, and strategic direction, strengthening the connection between African and European innovation ecosystems. This recognition of ENoLL membership underscores CyI’s commitment to advancing international collaboration, sustainable development, and impact-driven research on the global stage.
