Visit by the Ambassador of Japan H.E. Ms. Izumi Seki and Delegation to The Cyprus Institute

The Ambassador of Japan to Cyprus, H.E. Ms. Izumi Seki, accompanied by the Deputy Head, Mrs. Yoko Maejima, and Mr. Neophytos Karkotis from the Embassy’s Political and Economics Department, visited The Cyprus Institute’s premises in Athalassa on Tuesday, 26th July 2022, to explore areas of common interest for collaboration.

Hosting the meeting was CyI Assistant Vice-President for Institute Affairs, Dr Nicolas Jarraud, in the presence of CyI Head of the Graduate School, Dr Chrysanthia Leontiou, and Dr Nicos Rossides. The delegation was given an overall presentation of The Cyprus institute’s activities and facilities by Dr Jarraud, and a general presentation on the educational activities of CyI by Dr Leontiou.
 
The Japanese diplomat’s visit was successfully rounded-up with a guided tour led by Dr Jarraud of selected laboratories and research facilities at The Cyprus Institute, including the Graduate School, the Unmanned Systems Research Laboratory (USRL), the High Performance Computing (HPC) Facility, the Andreas Pittas Art Characterisation Laboratory (APAC Labs), and the Osteoarchaeology Lab.
 
Finally, the Ambassador of the country of the rising sun expressed her gratitude for the opportunity to visit the Cyprus Institute and congratulated the CyI administration and researchers for their excellent research and achievements.
