George Charalambous is a research assistant in the Cyprus Institute since February 2021. He is an active member of the Environmental Predictions Department (EPD) under the Climate Atmosphere and Research Center (CARE-C) of the Cyprus Institute. He has a strong background in Physics (BSc Physics, University of Cyprus, 2016) and also in Applied Meteorology and Climate Sciences (MSc Applied Meteorology, University of Reading, UK, 2017; University Diploma, Hellenic Open University, Greece, Climate change and associated natural disasters, 2021).
He is a highly motivated and proactive person and also a weather enthusiast. He participated in meteorology competitions and attended trainings and lectures about Weather Forecasting and Climate Change discussions (University of Reading, The Cyprus Institute). He is also contributing to the society by collaborating with The Cyprus Department of Meteorology, under the supervision of Dr. Filippos Tymvios, in order to create and share near-real-time weather maps of Cyprus that can be found on his own webpage.
