28th Annual conference of the European Association of Environmental and Resource Economists, Limassol, 27-30 June 2023

The European Association of Environmental and Resource Economists (EAERE) is one of the largest and most prominent scientific associations worldwide in the field of Environmental and Resource Economics. Its Annual Conference attracts over 750 participants from academic institutions, the public sector, and private industry. There are participants from over 40 countries in Europe and beyond who conduct research, design policy, and operate in the field of environmental and resource economics. EAERE’s 28th Annual Conference will be held in Cyprus in June 2023. Professor T. Zachariadis, Interim Director of STeDI-RC, chairs the Local Organizing Committee and co-chairs the Program Committee of the conference.

Professor T. Zachariadis, Interim Director of STeDI-RC, moderates the panel discussion between the Minister of Energy, Commerce and Industry Ms. Natasa Pilides, the Minister of Transport, Communications and Works Mr. Yiannis Karousos, the Director of the Recovery Task Force of the European Commission Ms. Maria Teresa Fabregas Fernandez, and the Director of the Cypriot environmental NGO Terra Cypria Mr. Lefkios Sergides.

 

IAEA-CyI Joint Event on Energy and Climate Planning, Nicosia, 10-12 October 2022

The Cyprus Institute’s STeDI-RC researchers hosted a Regional Meeting on Integrated Energy and Climate Planning, organized in the frame of the International Atomic Energy Agency’s project RER2018 “Analyzing Low Carbon Pathways towards an Ambitious Decarbonized Energy Sector by 2050”. Academics and senior officers from governmental authorities of fourteen countries participated in the three-day discussions. Experts from the European Commission, the European Environment Agency, the International Energy Agency, the International Renewable Energy Agency, and the Energy Community Secretariat joined the discussions with topical presentations on the international energy and climate policy landscape. The meeting was also attended by officers from national authorities of Cyprus such as the Ministry of Finance, the Central Bank, and the Fiscal Council of the country.
