Charalambos received his Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, from the University of Nicosia, Cyprus, in 2006, and his Master in Computational Intelligence and Robotics from De Montfort University, United Kingdom, in 2007. He then shifted his academic focus towards bioinformatics and began his PhD work in analysing protein and DNA sequences using advanced machine learning methodologies at De Montfort University. His thesis focused on the characterisation and classification of omics data using signal processing and advanced machine learning methods. Charalambos was awarded his PhD in 2012 and joined the University of Leicester as a postdoctoral fellow, until 2016. During this time, Charalambos focused on analysing next-generation sequence data for whole genome assembly, gene expression analysis, genome annotation and variation studies. Additionally, he researched data discovery and distribution of sensitive big omic data by creating efficient platforms for the anonymisation discovery and distribution of big omics data. Currently, Charalambos is a Computational Scientist at The Cyprus Institute, applying advanced machine learning on data-driven applications.
