Abstract
'A Taste of Hard Work' is a new and cross-disciplinary project aiming to understand, for the first time, the role that micro- and nano-pollutants of non-dietary origin (such as wood dust, fibers, pigments) entombed in ancient tartar (mineralised dental plaque) can play in our understanding of exposure to occupational air pollution in past societies.
The project is a close collaboration between BioArCh, The University of York, The British Museum, STARC and the Stockholm Environment Institute. It is funded by Wellcome Trust as part of their Early Career Research Fellowships in Medical Humanities.
About the Speaker
Dr Anita Radini is a Wellcome Trust Research Fellow in Medical Humanities in the Department of Archaeology and Physics at the University of York, UK.
She is visiting Professor in the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Sciences at the University of Rome-Sapienza in Italy.
