The workshop “ENERGY ISLANDS” will look into the challenges and achievements of European islands (and groups of islands) in the transition towards renewable and sustainable energy concepts. Island representatives and researchers providing scientific support to the real-life transition processes will present success stories and discuss the difficulties of going 100% renewable in the specific context of islands in the South, North and East of Europe. Based on the input from the speakers and the active participation from all those attending the workshop, we will discuss the support that research can provide to the transition process in islands and options for further cooperation.
