On behalf of the Bank of Cyprus Cultural Foundation and the Cyprus Institute, please join us for the public presentation of the digital library: Cypriot Medieval Coins: History and Culture.

The digital library is dedicated to the study and dissemination of the medieval coinage collection of the Bank of Cyprus Cultural Foundation. The library’s digital platform is based on the digital structure and functionality of DIOPTRA, the Edmée Leventis digital library of Cypriot Culture. The project was developed in the context of the collaboration between the Bank of Cyprus Cultural Foundation and the Science and Technology in Archaeology Research Center (STARC) of the Cyprus Institute.

The DIOPTRA digital platform supports the digitalization of the Cypriot medieval coins’ collection with the use RTI (Reflectance Transformation Imaging), an advanced imaging technique that allows viewers to interactively explore the surface of each coin. The library is also equipped with high-resolution super-zoom, an interactive geolocation map, text descriptions, expert essays, and links to other collections and repositories. The overall effort provides a valuable asset for future development and study of Cypriot cultural heritage.

The event is organized in the framework of Global Money Week of the Foundation “Child and Youth Finance International”.
