Michael Papadopoulos joined the Research and Innovation Management and Support office (RIMS) of the Cyprus Institute as a project officer in 2017. In 2019 he was appointed as Coordinator of the RIMS office. He holds a PhD in engineering from the University of Patras and has extensive experience in management and implementation of European funded research projects.
He worked as a post-doctoral researcher at the University of Patras for 9 years, during which he supervised students in their research activities performed as part of their theses. He has also been the founder and Managing Director for 7 years of a private company involved in the dissemination, and exploitation of knowledge and results produced within EU-funded research projects. During this time, he has been involved in more than 30 EU funded projects most of which under his prime responsibility. He was also involved in the organisation and implementation of more than ten International Scientific conferences and workshops in major European cities.
