Wojciech Lipiński

Wojciech Lipiński

Wojciech Lipiński is a professor at the Energy, Environment and Water Research Centre of the Cyprus Institute. He received his master's degree in Environmental Engineering from Warsaw University of Technology in 2000, a doctorate in Mechanical and Process Engineering from ETH Zurich in 2004, and a habilitation in Energy Technology from ETH Zurich in 2009. He previously held academic positions at ETH Zurich (2004–2009), the University of Minnesota (2009–2013), and the Australian National University (2013–2021).

Professor Lipiński's research interests focus on the fundamental aspects of solar chemical engineering. His core studies investigate transport and reactive flow phenomena in high-temperature heterogeneous systems, with a particular emphasis on radiative transfer, multiphase flows, and gas–solid reactions. His contributions primarily underpin advances in materials, reactors, and systems for solar thermochemical production of fuels, processing of materials, energy storage, and environmental separations.

Professor Lipiński is a member of the editorial boards for Solar Energy and the Journal of Quantitative Spectroscopy and Radiative Transfer. He is involved in several professional organizations, including the International Centre for Heat and Mass Transfer, the American Institute of Chemical Engineers, and the Eurotherm Committee. Professor Lipiński is a recipient of the Elsevier/JQSRT Raymond Viskanta Award (2013) and the ASME Yellott Award (2020). He became a Fellow of the ASME in 2021.
