Dr. Aristides Bonanos is an Assistant Professor of Energy Systems at the Cyprus Institute. Previously he has been a postdoctoral scholar at Caltech, USA and an associate research scientist at the Cyprus Institute. He holds a PhD in Aerospace Engineering, from Virginia Tech, USA. He is currently working on the cogeneration of electricity and desalinated water using concentrated solar power. He leads the CyI's work on thermal desalination systems using the multiple-effect distillation technology. Other projects include development and characterization of heliostats and energy storage in packed-bed thermocline tanks.
