Ioanna is an Associate Research Scientist at the Energy Department of Energy, Environment and Water Research Centre of The Cyprus Institute. She has been at the Cyprus Institute since 2018, when she started her PhD studies in Energy, Environment and Atmospheric Sciences. Her research combined natural with social sciences to investigate the topic of energy poverty in the EU and in Cyprus and was completed in June 2022. After that, she had been working at the EEWRC as a post-doctoral fellow, between 2022-2025. Ioanna comes from a multi-disciplinary background, with a BSc in Biology from the University of Sheffield (obtained in 2012) and an MSc in Energy Science from the University of Utrecht (obtained in 2015).
Some of her main interests involve sustainable energy use in the urban environment, occupant-centric smart buildings, thermal comfort, nature based solutions, urban and energy vulnerabilities and associated health issues.
