Dr Pantelis Georgiades holds a Masters in Physics and PhD in biological physics from the University of Manchester, with focus in biological and medical physics. During his PhD studies, he investigated the structural and rheological properties of mucins. After the completion of his PhD studies in 2014, he was employed at the University of Manchester as a post-doctoral research associate in the field of super-resolution microscopy.

Later, he was employed at Odyssey Cybersecurity Consultants as a Data Scientist, in the Research and Development department of the company. There, he developed bespoke network anomaly detection algorithms and User Entity and Behaviour analysis models, using novel machine learning and deep learning methodologies for the company’s cybersecurity platform.

Lastly, he is employed at CyI as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in the field of Vector Borne Diseases, in the Environmental Predictions Department. There, he is investigating the population dynamics of vectors and the epidemiology of vector borne diseases, through mathematical and machine learning modelling methodologies, as well as assessing the impact of climate and environmental change to them. He has also been trained in vector surveillance and is the leader of the AIMSurv (Aedes Invasive Mosquito Surveillance) surveillance effort in Nicosia. Dr Georgiades has authored twelve scientific papers in international peer-reviewed journals and has presented his work in various international scientific conferences, He is the chair of the Artificial Intelligence topic group for vector borne diseases of the ITU AI Focus Group (FG-AI4NDM).
