Maria Andrioti received her PhD in Classical Archaeology from the Department of Art and Archaeology of Princeton University in 2010. She also holds an MA from the same department and a BA in Archaeological Studies from the Department of Anthropology of the University of Texas at Austin. She has performed doctoral research at the Department of Classics of the University of Oxford, as a visiting scholar and has been an Associate Student Member of the American School of Classical Studies at Athens. Starting in 1999, she has excavated at several sites in Cyprus and Switzerland.

Her research interests include Archaic Cypriot sculpture, Cypriot religion and social organization in Cyprus in the Archaic and Classical periods, Archaic Greek iconography and representations of women in Archaic Greek sculpture. Her current project is the publication of the sculptural finds of the excavation of the Department of Antiquities of Cyprus at the Administrative Center/Palace of Idalion in modern Dali, Cyprus.

Along side her Affiliate Research Scientist post at the CyI, she is a visiting scholar at the Departement Altertumswissenschaften of the University of Basel, Switzerland.
