Panagiotis Theofanous is an archaeologist from the Republic of Cyprus, graduated from the Department of History, Archaeology and Social Anthropology of the University of Thessaly (2008). He was awarded an MA in Maritime Archaeology at the University of Southampton (2011) and more recently has concluded an MSc in Geoinformatics at the School of Rural & Surveying Engineering of the National Technical University of Athens (2017). His Master's degree theses titles were “The Coastal Settlements of Late Bronze Age Cyprus” and “Development of a GIS application for Archaeological Information based on orthophotos of the Mazotos Shipwreck in Cyprus” respectively.
Besides, the past 5 years has become a member of the Association of Cypriot Archaeologists, the ICOMOS committee of Cyprus, the Chartered Institute for Archaeologists and the Nautical Archaeology Society.
His current research interest is the development of the scientific research towards the greater understanding of the Cypriot Cultural Heritage as this could be brought to light through historical and archaeological evidence, be demonstrated via multidisciplinary approaches and, also, displayed with new technological methods.
He has, also, a growing interest in archaeological fieldwork surveying, geoinformatics, digital data acquisition, post-processing, and interpretation. Thus, for the past few years, he has been involved in a variety of terrestrial and underwater archaeological research projects, on sites of different chronological periods and of a multidisciplinary background.
