Dr. Alkistis Papetta holds a BSc in Physics and MSc in Physics Engineering and a PhD in Atmospheric Schienses. Her research expertise focuses on remote sensing instrumentation for aerosol and wind characterization, with particular emphasis on the synergistic use of satellite, ground-based, and UAV-based observations for improved characterization of the upper atmosphere and aerosol transport processes.

Her work aims to advance the integration of multi-platform observational systems to better understand aerosol dynamics, vertical atmospheric structure, climate impact, particularly in climatically sensitive regions such as the Eastern Mediterranean. She is actively involved in the development and application of innovative methodologies including active and passive remote sensing techniques.

Dr. Papetta has contributed to several European and international research projects, including EMME-CARE, CleanCloud, and DUST-DN, supporting activities related to aerosol observations, atmospheric monitoring, and climate research. She has also participated in major international atmospheric field campaigns, including the Fall Campaign 2021, Cyprus, the ASKOS campaign 2022 in Cabo Verde, the Edu4Climate campaign 2023, in Cyprus and the CHOPIN campaign 2024 at Helmos, Greece, contributing to coordinated aerosol measurement and satellite validation efforts.

She is currently a Postdoctoral Researcher, focusing on atmospheric remote sensing, aerosol characterization, and the integration of advanced observational systems for environmental and climate applications. In addition, she serves as the Young Researchers Representative in the COST Action EARLICOST, contributing to networking and collaboration activities within the European lidar and atmospheric remote sensing community.

Dr. Papetta has authored and co-authored several peer-reviewed scientific publications in leading journals, including Atmospheric Chemistry and Physics (ACP), Atmospheric Measurement Techniques (AMT), and other internationally recognized journals in the fields of atmospheric science and remote sensing.
