Georgios is a Marie Curie fellow in the joint doctorate program HPC-LEAP between the University of Rome “Tor Vergata”, where is supervised by Prof. Luca Biferale, and The Cyprus Institute, where is supervised by Prof. Constantia Alexandrou.
His Ph.D. proposes a new numerical method to study out-of-equilibrium phenomena in dynamical systems. This work constitutes the first clear demonstration that the Janssen-de Dominicis path integral formalism can be numerically implemented via a Hybrid Monte Carlo algorithm to study extreme and rare events in stochastic PDEs. The project also clearly shows the relevance of instantons and their fluctuations in extreme and rare events.
His main research interests include fluid dynamics, Monte Carlo methods, stochastic PDEs, computational physics, and HPC.
