On Wednesday, March 9, 2022, Head of Cooperation of the European Union Programme Support Office of the European Commission, Mr Alain Joaris, and the Deputy Director in DG Reform and Head of the European Commission’s “Cyprus Settlement Support Unit”, Mr Kjartan Bjornsson, visited The Cyprus Institute’s premises in Athalassa, Nicosia.

Hosting the meeting was CyI Assistant Vice President for Institute Affairs, Dr Nicolas Jarraud. The EU officials were given a briefing on the Institute’s research activities and an overview presentation about The Cyprus Institute by Dr Jarraud.

The presentation was followed by a discussion on the prospects of cooperation in relation to Cyprus renewable energy issues, with the participation of CyI Head of PROTEAS Facility, Dr Marios C. Georgiou, and CyI Associate Research Scientist for Concentrated Solar Power, Dr Alaric Montenon. During their visit, the EU officials were given a guided tour of The Cyprus Institute energy-related facilities by Dr Alaric Montenon.

The EU officials expressed their gratitude for the opportunity to visit, and congratulated the administration and the scientists of the Institute for their exceptional work and research achievements.
