On Wednesday, 6^th of April 2022, the Chargé d'Affaires of the Apostolic Nunciature in Cyprus, Monsignor George Panamthundil, visited The Cyprus Institute's premises in Aglantzia (Nicosia) and had a private discussion with CyI President Prof. Costas N. Papanicolas and EEWRC Director, Prof. Fadi G. Comair.

Following a guided tour of CyI campus and Institute’s laboratories, including Andreas Pittas Art Characterization (APAC) Laboratories, where Msgr. Panamthundil had the chance to see a replica of a Medieval liturgical Cross from the Maronite Church of the Holy Cross in Karpasia, which was presented to His Holiness Pope Francis by a CyI delegation, on the occasion of his visit to Cyprus, Dec. 2-4, 2021.

Msgr. George Panamthundil also visited the Linear Fresnel Facility, and then he was given a brief presentation on the Institute’s research activities by CyI Assistant Vice President for Institute Affairs, Dr Nicolas Jarraud. Additionally, Dr Jarraud mentioned the meeting that a CyI delegation had with His Holiness Pope Francis during his visit to Cyprus, as well as a summary of the work that The Cyprus Institute has performed on numerous Christian works of art and monuments over the years.

Hosting the meeting was EEWRC Director, Prof. Fadi G. Comair, who presented the overview of the Energy, Environment and Water Research Center (EEWRC), focusing on the Hydro-diplomacy Partnership Program, in the presence of Dr Jarraud, and CyI Scientific Coordinator, Dr Christiana Katti, who highlighted the role of the Institute in leading efforts of the Cyprus Climate Change Initiative in the Eastern Mediterranean and Middle East.

Msgr. George Panamthundil was also given a guided tour in PROTEAS Solar Research Facility in Pentakomo (Limassol), where he expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to visit the impressive facilities of CyI.
