A.G. Leventis Research Assistantship in Archaeological Science

Overview

The A.G. Leventis Research Assistantship in Archaeological Sciences provides the opportunity to young scholars that demonstrate outstanding academic potential to pursue their doctoral studies at The Cyprus Institute Graduate School.

The Assistantship will take the form of an employment contract with a salary of €14,136 gross annually, plus The Cyprus Institute health insurance, and is initially for one year. It is renewable up to a maximum duration of three years, depending on satisfactory academic progress, and cannot be held concurrently with any other employment.

 

Eligibility & Selection Procedure

A selection committee led by the A.G. Leventis Chair in Archaeological Sciences and comprised of experts from the respective scientific field evaluates all eligible applications according to selection criteria based on merit. Shortlisted applicants may be invited for an interview.

 

How to Apply

Students interested in the AG Leventis Research Assistantship in Archaeological Sciences should hold a valid offer for study in the Science and Technology in Cultural Heritage PhD program with an intended research topic linked to the Archaeological Sciences group at STARC, and should submit the following documents to the Office of Graduate Studies (This email address is being protected from spambots. A two-page project description developed in coordination with the proposed Cyprus Institute Supervisor. 
A motivation letter (max two pages, addressing the points given in the next paragraph) and contact details for three potential referees, including the intended supervisor at CyI and the former supervisor of their postgraduate thesis.
Points to address in the motivation letter: Focus of previous studies, career plans after the PhD, relevant work experience, demonstrable effort to raise funding from other sources, and the overall fit within the current activities in Archaeological Sciences at STARC

 

The A.G. Leventis Chair in Archaeological Sciences reserves the right to not offer scholarships, if the applications received do not meet the eligibility requirements. Scholarships are offered pending availability of funds.
