DISARM - Drought and fIre obServatory and eArly waRning system

The DISARM Project is supported by the European Commission –Interreg, Balkan-Mediterranean programme, from 15 September 2017 to 14 September 2019.

DISARM project brings together the countries of Greece, Bulgaria and Cyprus, with the aim to establish a common strategic framework for tackling the challenges posed by drought and wildland fires. It is important to note that the participating countries have been already facing these challenges in recent years. To successfully address the challenges that arise from drought and wildland fires, an integrated approach, promoting transnational collaboration, is in principle required. Such an approach will be adopted in the context of the proposed project. State-of-the-art observational and modeling techniques will be employed, together with crowdsourcing activities, in order to establish a common prevention and mitigation platform for the vulnerable region of southeast Mediterranean.
