In its 2017 meeting, the Board of The Cyprus Institute reviewed yet another successful year of operation.
During the meeting, the trustees assessed in detail the progress made in the previous year, set up the strategic plan for 2017, ratified important faculty appointments and approved important policies and the 2017 budget.
The day before the board meeting, the Scientific Advisory Council met to review the progress of the research division. The positive findings of the Council were reported to the Board.
The following new members of the Board participated for the first time in these meetings:
Prof. Mike Cates, Lucasian Professor of Mathematics, University of Cambridge.
Dr Janez Potočnik, former EU Commissioner for Science and Research and subsequently EU Commissioner for the Environment.
Prof. Harold Varmus, Nobel Laureate in Medicine.
The delegation from the Board visited both the President of the Republic, Mr Nicos Anastasiades and the Minister of Finance, and briefed them both on the latest developments regarding The Cyprus Institute.
